Guardianships

Ohio Probate Court will assign a guardian in the event a child has lost two parents, is in a situation which puts them in danger, or when a guardian is in the child’s best interest. An adult may also be appointed a guardian in the event they are no longer capable of making good decisions or taking proper care of themselves. This may be due to physical disability, mental impairment, or drug addiction. Guardians must pass a rigorous background check and must provide the court with regular reports.
